Scriptfrenzy

So, I finished my script with 98 pages. That's good enough for me. It's a kind of fun story, and it ended well. I suppose I could go back and try to pad out some scenes, but honestly, I think I did enough of that while I was writing it.

I think I just don't have it in me to write a 100 page script. I got to 99 pages the last time I tried - I added in blank lines until I got to 100 pages.

Yea, I don't have much else to say.

We're off to watch roller derby next weekend. That should be really fun. It's lordkilljoy's birthday tomorrow. We don't have any plans.

I think that's it, really.

Bread, again. And other things.

I just made the most delicious bread ever. I'm really biased, but it really is delicious. I put in less flour than called for (3 cups instead of 4), and it came out just perfect. It's light, fluffy, with the most delicate crust - crumbly and perfect, like the texture of digestive biscuits. Mmmmmmm. I just had a slice and I want more. I made it so I could have french toast, but it's far too good to use on french toast right now. Maybe tomorrow.

The weather warmed up again. it's 24 outside and 26 in here. I have all the windows open and the ceiling fan on - there's the most delightful breeze blowing around the place.

What other news...I played a bit of Portal 2 on Tuesday evening. It's brilliant. I must get back to it. Actually, if I get to page 73 in my script today I will go play this afternoon. I only have to write one more page (Mmmm, how did I get this bread to be so good?) but it's kind of hard because it's sort of the climax and I think its going to be a short scene. I want it to be more than a page, but at the same time, I don't want it to feel drawn out.
In other game news, I'm still playing World of Warcraft. I joined a new guild recently, and think it will be fun. I'm now spreading my time over 5 characters, all of whom I love to play - they are all completely different to each other too, which is quite amazing.
D&D encounters last night was fun, too. We were a different table, with a good GM and a good mix of classes (fighters and healers - what more do you need; well, okay, a rogue to open locks, but we got on well enough bashing it open).

Right - I really need to get back to my script.

Ingredients

3 cups wheat flour
4 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup margarine, softened (I used spreadable butter - didn't have enough real butter, and no margarine)
1 cup buttermilk
1 egg

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease a large baking sheet.
In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt and butter. Stir in 1 cup of buttermilk and egg. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead slightly. Form dough into a round and place on prepared baking sheet. Use a sharp knife to cut an 'X' into the top of the loaf.
Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean, about 30 to 50 minutes.
(I went the full 50 minutes, because my oven is underpowered - I think this is why the crust came out so nice.)

smoothie

mmm, watermelon smoothie. half a watermelon, a bit of lemon juice, a handful of raspberries, and a dash of minced ginger. delicious.

going to enjoy it on the balcony.

Wind

I couldn't go outside today because of the wind. It was gusting gale force 8, and a pretty constant force 6.
... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM MDT this evening...

A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM MDT this evening.

* Location... the Santa Fe and Albuquerque Metro areas as well as
new mexicos northeast plains and the Chaves County plains
including Roswell.

* Winds... west winds will shift out of the northwest today with
sustained speeds from 25 to 35 mph and gusts from 45 to 50 mph.

* Timing... wind speeds will continue to strengthen through mid day
then remain strong through the afternoon. Speeds will weaken
below hazardous thresholds around sunset.

* Visibility... blowing dust will drop visibility well below 1 mile
at times in dust prone locations.

* Local impacts... strong Crosswinds will develop on north to south
and northeast to southwest oriented roads... including I-25.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take action to secure trash cans... lawn furniture... and other
loose or light weight outdoor objects.

It's kind of rotten, not being able to go outside because of the wind... well, more because of the dust and sand the wind carries.

We went to see Cage the Elephant on Tuesday night. They were good - very lively, and they played the three of their songs I know. Yeay.

My scriptfrenzy is going well enough. I'm still behind (by slightly less than one day), but catching up. If I can manage to get the pages done this weekend, I should be good. Here's hoping my idea lasts another 50 pages. I have a battle to go, then a whole new area, then the climax and the end. And leading up to this was the start, travel, this area and a battle. Hmmm. I may have to get creative with adding in CUT TO: to try to pad it out a bit. Cheating, I know, but my script is a bit action heavy as it is. It needs a bit of breathing space.

I don't have much other news. I want to make muffins, but I have no eggs, and can't go to the shop because of the wind. Ah well.

Hanna

I am too tired even to make a decent post, I just wanted to mention that we went to see Hanna on Saturday night. It was brilliant. One of the better movies I've seen in a while, simply because it was so different. It was an action movie with artistic flair. A beautifully wrought story about a girl coming to terms with who she is.
We were at home afterwards and I wanted to go back and see it again.

I don't know why I'm so tired. I'm trying to get my 3 pages done for scriptfrenzy and there's nothing in my brain, and no energy in my fingers. Blah.

things

Have I mentioned how odd the weather can be here? It's cloudy and blustery here today, but warm. Perfect thunder weather. It almost feels like it could rain, and when I look up at the clouds it is raining. But it's so dry here the drops evaporate before they reach the ground. Madness. A little warm rain shower would be lovely. I can imagine how wonderful the ground would smell.

I'm doing script frenzy this year. I'm on page 15 (almost 16). I'm behind by 5 pages, but if I can do 6 tomorrow and 6 on Friday, I'll have caught up. I'll have to be super disciplined over the weekend to get my 3 pages each day. No Warcraft until I've written enough for the day. Or maybe I can do 6 on Saturday and do the guild run on Sunday. We'll see, I guess.

We got these lovely chocolate sweets in Costco yesterday. Ok, when I say we, I mean lordkilljoy. We got them home, tried them and it turns out that he doesn't like them. They taste exactly like dime bars. So now I have a massive tub of sweets to eat all by myself.

atlanta

I have the wrestlemania theme tune stuck in my head. not really surprising, considering we spent the weekend in atlanta. ah, it was wonderful. not so much for the wrestling, which was fun but i'm not the biggest fan ever. no, it was brilliant because there were fountains and green grass and trees everywhere. the air wasn't at 15% humidity and sitting outside was simply perfect.
apart from wrestlemania, we wandered around the city, went to coke world, ate bison burgers (yummy), hung out, and got to talk to wrestlers in a pub one night. i wanted to go to the zoo, but no train went out that way, and navigating buses is a bit of hassle compared to navigating trains.
it was funny to come back to the yellow ground of albuquerque, but i suppose i'll get used to it again.

in other news, i'm doing script frenzy this year. the objective is to write a 100 page script in the month of april. i have no outline, and just half an idea of a plot, so we'll see how i get on with that.

it's been so long since i last updated, but i can't think of anything else new. i finally got a lovely summer dress, which was white, but i died blue. i've been walking and cycling.

i don't really know what else to say.
