news stuff

so... lots of news since my last post. warpcon was really good fun. didn't get home before 3 any night. saturday night was club warpcon, fun but the music wasn't really to my taste. anyway. it was good. sunday night was royal rumble, my somewhat sedate introduction to wrestling. but it was kind of fun. i think my main problem was exhaustion. ugh - going in to work on monday was so awful, i was so tired i could hardly think. anyway i sorta caught up on sleep and now i have the weekend off.

actually, since i got on to work... i don't think i'm in a really good place with it. i've been made part-time and i'm even afraid that they will just let me go. there's lots of meetings and i don't have my hours for monday yet. i have to ring on sunday afternoon to see what the story is. hmmm. oh well. i complained for ages and ages about hating work, but the whole part-time thing actually had me a bit excited. i think i'm just not cut out for full-time work. it makes me so tired that i get really depressed. aaanyway. part-time would give me lots of time for writing as well. but not having a job just makes me lazy and i do nothing at all.

so, yea. that's all my news in a very quick post. i'm going to eat dinner now. pasta and chorizo. yummy :)

warpcon night 1

i had a fabulous night last night. got to the old bar at 9:30 ish, left the old bar at 1:30 ish. the warpcon pub quiz was hlaf way through when i got in, but it seems i missed nothing. the pub quiz was a shambles and left many, many people feeling cheated. ah well. i got to see loads of people i hadn't seen in ages - we had a girls' table going and just talked and laughed for most of the night. lordkilljoy and i ended back in frosthearted and my_name_is_fiki's until 3ish.
and the fun continues tonight with clubWarpcon. i think i'll sleep for an hour or two before heading out though.

and i got asked to defect from "the awesomes" to go join aidan's band. apparently word has gotten around that i can sing. but it would never work out, me and lordkilljoy make a good "rock band" band.

me and penelope_stone went clothes shopping today. i got a petticoat (not a proper one, but it will do) and a pair of cord flares. :) i am singularialy happy. They are a little narrow around my thighs (they make my legs look very skinny), but i love the flare on them.

anyway other news quickly - barry's game is on tomorrow. that should be good fun. i've been invited to royal rumble on sunday night. that should be fun, even if not for the wrestling, for everyone else's reactions to it.

right. gotta go. i'm on penelope_stone's laptop and she's heading back to kerry now. i don't think her spell checker works... sorry about the bad spelling.

handwriting meme

perhaps i should put this behind a cut - it's a pic and it's about 500k.

had a good weekend last. we went out on saturday night, first food in aya (a sushi conveyor belt place - was kinda fun and yummy), then to the long hall (old man's pub during the week i'm told) and after to the oak for a weeny dance floor that played mostly good music (a little too much punk for my taste).

i had a huge list of things to do today, but it looks so cold out that i've spent the last 2 hours messing on the net.

warpcon is on this weekend. that should be really good. i have friday, saturday, sunday and monday off for it :) i'm really looking forward to the whole thing. i have no plans to play any games, except maybe card / board games in the old bar. and getting to spend time at home too. i miss having a rad with a good view to hug.

right, i'm going to go now. venture outside and get my to do list for the day done.

breakfast

i tried an experiment for breakfast this morning. at the moment i'm eating jordan's crunchy oat muesli for breakfast, but it is very serious and formal and not really a whole lot of fun at breakfast time. and what with today being saturday, i wanted something a little more funky. the only other thing we have is toast and i didn't feel like that. after a little contemplation, i decided that porridge would be nice, but we don't have any.
and then the idea struck. porridge is made from oats. my muesli is made from oats. logical conclusion - lets try an experiment. so i mixed one mug of muesli and one and a half mugs of milk (possibly too much - it's more the consistency that penelope_stone likes, but i think it might be too sweet for her) and it turned out wonderfully. and hot - i burned my mouth in two different places. but well - now i know for again that if i ever want a scrummy porridge, all i have to do is cook jordan's.

a game

so, i'm thinking about writing a short game - nothing too complicated (platformer-action-stealth-rpg goodness). lordkilljoy gave me some books on XNA (microsoft's windows / xbox games language) and it looks so unbelievably complicated. but the results are quite good. but if you want to publish your game you have to pay. if i did it in flash, i could just throw it up on the web and go from there. and i know actionscript, so there wouldn't be a steep learning curve. but the results might not be as good, or as "big." but i suppose for my first attempt i should keep things simple.

the sunrise looks amazing this morning. all orange and pink and purple and blue as the light spreads out into the bank of cloud that's high up in the sky. god, i'm tired this morning, though. i really need to get 9 hours sleep every night, and it's just not happening. right - off to bed for me tonight at 8.

k - that's all i can think of to say.

eyes and a tongue make for cuteness

goo, i'm tired. i think i will make a large (this word does not go here) effort to go to bed at 9 tonight. we went to see role models last night. it was funny, but simple. i wasn't expecting there to be a big larps battle so that was a surprise.

we had a very creative day in work yesterday. some parts of work involve lots of make and do stuff, like playing with selotape and cutting things up and writing with markers and stuff. i love that part of work - it's like being back in art class again (in primary school) and having fun because you have a break from the awful awfuls of work you don't like. anyway - yesterday involved sticking random stickers to random objects and laughing at the comic value they possessed. and we turned the scanner into a creature and called him samuel. and he is insanely cute.

k - gotta go now. if i had time i'd write more, but i don't. awh.

12 January 2009

rock band

me and lordkilljoy are in a band! i'm the singer and he plays guitar. and we have 260,000 fans! we've rocked across america in a glorious run of great shows and worked our way up to bigger and better all the time.
of course, this is all in my imagination (and rock band on the xbox). it's so much fun, especially on easy, when i can sing along to a song i have never heard before and still get 95% or something. craziness!

we played gears of war the other night too. it was fun. more fun than i was expecting - it's a third person shooter, and the emphasis is on shooting from behind cover. i had fun anyway.

on saturday i got my bike serviced. it needed it's "new bike tune up" and i'd meant to get it done before now, but anyway.

i can't really think of much else to say. jordan's original muesli has too many raisins in it.

10 January 2009

twilight

lordkilljoy and i went to see twilight last night. it's a film for die hard romantics and dreamers, and since i am both, i loved it. and of course, because of that i received much mockage from lainey316 and goblin_insane (and lordkilljoy, a little) about my closet emo-ness. i will freely admit right here and now that i could be an emo person, but i don't have the temperament for it. that whole immature egotistical self-pity all the time never appealed to me.
but anyway. i thought the film was wonderful and pretty and happy, nothing too serious or thought-provoking, just good old fashioned vampire romance. and edward's family were hilarious (and sort of cool too).
i've had scenes from it flashing through my head since last night, mostly of trees and hills and lakes and open fields. i wonder what this says about me. i think i may need to find a park nearby and hang out there somewhat often.

i don't have much other news. i have time off work for warpcon (yeay), so that should be fun - getting down to cork to see everyone. and i think barry's game will be on that weekend too - that would be great.

in totally other news... lordkilljoy bought rock band last night. now my dreams of being a lead singer can finally come true!!

now i really can't think of anything else to say. bye.

08 January 2009

sleep

i got 9 hours sleep again last night. i was positively bouncy this morning. lordkilljoy's mumbled response to my energetic-ness, from where he lay hiding behind the covers, was "why are you dancing?" i had "anything goes" from fallout3 in my head, and why not dance? it's a good song to dance to. i really need to get my required amount of sleep more often. i fell asleep at 10:30 and didn't wake when lordkilljoy came in an hour later. but i have developed this wierd thing of waking at 4:22 every night. i'll wake up, wonder what time it is, hear a lack of car noises and realize that it is very early in the morning. then when i look at the clock it's around 4:22. very wierd.

lordkilljoy played gta4 last night. the cut scenes are so violent, i don't know how anyone enjoys playing that game. the car driving bits are fun, though. i tried to get him to drive to the farthest part of the city, but he wouldn't!

oh damn - i meant to start my sword and sorcery tale (the genre for this month). oh well. i have a good starting point and everything - and a city called dragonsbreath.

mmm - i'll go now.

06 January 2009

look at this - 3 posts in 3 days. amazing. i should really try to get back to posting every day. we'll see.

we went to see the spirit last night. randomest film ever. i can see why it got 14% on rottentomatoes (even though metacritic gave it 30). some scenes just seemed to come out of nowhere, as if frank miller sat down with the objective of surprising his audience. or maybe it's will eisner's objective - i don't know; i didn't read the comic. but for all that, i still enjoyed it. it made me laugh in parts and it had a good ending.

i got about 9 hours sleep last night :) add that to the 11 hours on monday night and you get a well-adjusted me, content and able to interact with people on a normal level. we'll see how long this lasts once i get into work.

right, gotta go. ooh - acually - i was in town yesterday and i got a new wallet. it's about twice the volume of my old wallet and it dosn't fit in my pocket nearly as well, but it's pretty looking. i also picked up the three musketeers, a book i've been meaning to read since forever. it's a new (2005) translation i got, so hopefully it will be written in a style that's easy enough to read. having to keep track of 20-comma-sentences just dosn't happen for me. i'm hoping it will be good because the 2003 translation of dante's inferno that i have is excellently translated (by a belfast man, no less).

ok - i really have to go now.

fallout3

some day i will be in a shop or restaurant or somewhere random that plays old music and one of the songs from fallout3 will come on, at which point i will start singing along and imagining that i am in a ruined metro system or creeping around a nuclear wasteland or killing super-mutants or something. some of the songs are wonderfully ironic, though. like bingo bango bongo which has a line that goes "They have things like the atom bomb, so I think I'll stay where I am" and let's go sunning, which kind of speaks for itself. i mean, obviously the designers didn't just pick any ol' 40s tunes, but it's still cool that they got ones that suit the game.

"and remember, don't feed the yao guai. that is all."

05 January 2009

stuffs

the fog yesterday was quite amazing. it built over the day getting thicker as the day went on (i find that wierd about here. in cork fog disappears during the day). it was cold and humid and generally miserable. but it was ok, because me and lordkilljoy spent most of the day inside playing the ps3.
anyway - i went out to my bike this morning and there were little icicles (wow that word looks wierd) hanging off my handlebars. it was kind of funny having to remove them. it would have been funnier if it hadn't been so cold.

my cinema card arrived today. yeay for not having to have money on me going to the cinema. now we just have to make a point of going at least twice in the month.

uummmm, my life has really turned into some kind of bowl of nothingness. oh for the days when i could ramble on for ages and ages and actually have news to say. or even if i had no news, i had random things to say, now everything is just blank. and i don't know how to fix it. maybe i should look into doing some kind of adult education course for the next few weeks. i wonder is there anywhere around here doing archery? that would be great to take up again.

k - gotta go.

03 January 2009

a post over dinner

there is really nothing better than fried rice. i could eat it every day and be very happy. well - as has been proven, after 2 months of mainly rice one does start to crave pasta. oh well. i need to make a note to myself to make rice more often. 'cause it's yummy.

i got penelope_stone the first part of her birthday present. i havn't a clue what to get her else, but i have most of the month to find something.

i really can't think of anything else to say. i'm just going to go now.

01 January 2009

i should write about new year's

ok - tired post here so it's not going to be anything phenominal. hmmm, this is wierd... firefox's spell checker isn't working on lordkilljoy's pc. this is very odd, and annoying seeing as how i can't spell.

last night was good. we went to frosthearted and mynameisfiki's party. it was good fun; good company, good music, nothing too wild or exciting, just a nice relaxing time.

k, i'm just going to go now. i really can't think of anything to say.
happy 2009, happy january :)
