the weekend

ahh, i have so much news that i can't remember it all. penelope_stone was over for the weekend. we played mariokart wii, rock band, went for walks and on monday i helped her carry a load of climbing gear over to dalkey (on the train).
dalkey is a lovely spot, full of expensive mansions and pretty homes. it's the kind of place where more than one house has a round turret room and all the properties have massive walls around them and the cars that you see on the street are all bmws or mercs or porches or other sporty types.

hmm, i really can't think of anything to say.

shopping

nano goes well. it's my first topic of this post, because i have made a decision to update my journal, rather than get a few words towards today's word count. i'm on target, with my 1667 words per day.

i went on a mini buying spree yesterday. i went into town (dublin) and bout lots of underwear (including a new pyjamas), a nice zip-up top and needles and thread. ooh, and blue fairy lights to make the sitting room look nice. lordkilljoy's reaction was quite reserved, so i'm not really sure what he thinks of them. well, i'm sure he thinks i'm totally crazy, but i amuse him, so he keeps me :)

i'm still playing fallout 3 - progressing really really slowly, i only reached level 4 after a week of playing or whatever. i've started soul bubbles on ds too. it's really cute and fun. thanks to frosthearted for telling me about it.

hmmm... i don't know what else i have to say. i suppose i'll just go.

packing and moving

i put my packing list to use this evening when i packed my rucksack. it weighs 3 stone (20kgs) and i can just about lift it. heh, good luck to me on monday when i have to carry it. i'd love to head up tomorrow evening (after d+d - get the bus at 7) but that would mean not getting into dublin until around 11, and i doubt lordkilljoy will still be awake at that stage. nah - i'll wait and get the bus monday morning instead. if i get the bus at 9, i can be there for lunchtime and we'll still have a bit of the day to hang out.
i had considered leaving it 'til friday, so that i wouldn't spend my first few days just being alone in his house for most of the day. but i just know that if i leave it that long, all the stories from his trip will be old news and it won't be nearly as much fun going through everything he bought. and i have japanese books being delivered that i want to get up there for. so yea. i'll go on monday :)

i went into town with penelope_stone today. she bought loads, i just got a present for davidnarby (it was his birthday a while back). but we had fun tramping all over the city looking at outdoor gear.

so that's about it. i feel like i've forgotten to pack a million things. i had to put quite a few clothes back, because they wouldn't all fit in my bag. i have so many tops that i love and i wanted to bring them all. i have a good reason for this too: when we went to new zealand, i missed all my clothes - because i'd only been able to bring a small handful of them. so this time, i'm just bringing everything i like, and just leaving behind anything i never really wore anyway, which isn't much - i don't tend to buy clothes if i don't think i'm going to wear them.

right so, i'm off to bed then :)

things of little note

i'm off to dublin for the weekend.

um. that's actually all i wanted to say.
it's wierd, though. some of you may know that penelope_stone is my sister. well - i'm heading up to dublin this weekend because i have an interview on monday. but i also get to spend the weekend with lordkilljoy, which is great. penelope_stone also has an interview on monday, in kerry (where her boyfriend lives) and she is heading down to him today to spend the weekend with him. it's crazy how freakishly coincidental all of this is. and just to make matters worse, we just happen to have boyfriends who have the same first name. it's so wierd. sometimes i feel that someone "up there" is having a great laugh at all of this.

anyway. in my dream last night i was in a factory being offered a job. but not just one job - they offered me 5 different positions and i had to choose what i wanted. there were 5 levels - basic worker, technical worker, junior manager and 2 upper managerial positions. i couldn't decide between technical worker and junior manager and i was asking davidnarby his opinion. but even as i put the question to him, i knew i didn't want the responsibility of a manager. and i reasoned that i love doing technical stuff. it was odd.

some facts

this time one year ago i was arriving into new zealand, passing through immigration, getting a stamp on my passport. that stamp expires today. awh!

tomorrow i'm flying off for glastonbury for six days of chaos, queues, music, rain, mud, excellent food, sunny spells, acrobatics, bewildering sights, inspiring sights, smells and all the insanity and brilliance and emotion of europe's largest festival.

i called into cit today. i have a bit of work there when i get back from glasters. it should be a bit of fun - doing animation for a training application.

gosh. i just realized how long it's been since i posted last. i had a great end-of-week in dublin. it was emmett's girlfriend (claudia)'s birthday, and a group of us went out to balzac (which is incredibly fancy, but nice - good food).
and i showed lordkilljoy the basics of HDR photography.
we've been watching a lot of avatar: the last airbender. it's so good. we're up to season 2, and all the characters are being developed really well.

i watched stardust last night withpenelope_stone. it is a brilliant film. there was one scene and the two of us were smiling watching it; it's just such a romantic adventure. it's wonderful. actually, i got very little done yesterday - i played fallout for most of the day. i'm really enjoying it. the plot is getting nicely entwined, and now i want to find out how certain stuff came about and how everything will work out. i'm also getting very excited about fallout3, which is probably a bad thing. i need a job, so i can get a new pc!

yea... i was considering doing a masters in dublin. but i think i've missed the application enrty deadline. oh well. i'll just try desperately to start a career when the unemployment level is rising. hmm... see, i'm not even sure if i want to start a "career" or if i just want to get a job that will feed me and give me somewhere to live. i think i want a career in writing. in fact, i know this. but it's a lot of time with no income and that's not really so great, so in the meantime i'm considering starting a "career" in something else, which i will ditch when my book gets picked up by an editor (which could be years from now). i do feel a little bad about faking an honest career just for the money, but well.

yea. that's all i have to say today. i'll try to check in tomorrow and then it will be a post-glasters orgy of happiness and tiredness and stories from the festival.
